    Notes Pesce What?

Almost 4 years ago my boyfriend decided to show me a video, you know…the one where animals are treated horribly with the sad depressing music, and since then my life changed. I decided to stop eating meat, which was extremely difficult at first especially when I would get a whiff of some Publix chicken.

My diet mainly consists of non meat items, however, something I could not give up was seafood. Pescetarianism is the practice of a diet that includes seafood but not the flesh of other animals. I am hoping no one ever shows me a video of Nemo being fed corn and becoming overweight and unable to swim. My diet consists mostly of vegetarian dishes but for the days I am in need of a “meaty” protein, seafood satisfies this craving, plus I just love the slippery little suckers.

Now, on occasion throughout the year such as Christmas and Thanksgiving when I go home to visit my family, or while on vacation I will dabble in some meat items. I cannot turn down anything my mom cooks, and when on vacation I get to try something I normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to eat at home. My boyfriend on the other hand, also eats seafood, but is completely committed to never eating meat…again. It is definitely easier to practice this diet if you are surrounded with people that practice this diet as well.

It has gotten easier to live without meat, but sometimes I crave curry chicken, which is one of my favorite dishes to make and eat. I am comfortable with my diet mostly for my health and eating items that is easily digestible. So I mostly emphasize on fish as well as fruits, vegetables and grains…simply because this diet works for ME!
